Adjustment Procedures

Series 26 & 30

Koni Shock Adjustment Diagram 1

The adjustment is made with the damper fully extended.

Koni Shock Adjustment Diagram 2

NOTE: Do not place the shock absorber in a vice (except at the lower eye or pin attachment). Use clamp plates to prevent damage. (fig 2 and 3)

  1. Remove the shock absorber from the vehicle.
  2. Remove the plastic dust cover to expose the adjusting button (fig. 2).
  3. Hold the damper body where the piston rod emerges from the cylinder. Depress the button fully, and hold it in that position while adjusting (fig. 1 & 2).
  4. Koni Shock Adjustment Diagram 3

  5. The adjusting device has been provided with a number of distinct stops (clicks), each of which marks an adjustment position (fig 4).
  6. The damper may have already been adjusted before. Therefore, check whether the shock absorber is in zero-position by turning the piston rod to the left (anti-clockwise) until the zero-stop is felt - DO NOT USE FORCE!
  7. Koni Shock Adjustment Diagram

  8. To increase the rebound-damping, turn the piston rod one or more clicks to the right (clockwise), and release the adjustment button.

  9. NOTE: 26 series range limited to 2 clicks, 30 series range limited to 3 clicks
  10. Make sure that the adjusting button springs fully back into position. Whilst the button is depressed, do not turn the piston rod further, otherwise correct adjustment will be disturbed. As soon as the knob is button in position, the piston rod may be turned freely. The damper can now be refitted.

WARNING: Adjust both left and right dampers identically. Failure to do so may lead to unstable handling and uneven tyre tread wear.
