Spax Shock Absorber

1. Race Coil Springs: the springs provided are tried and tested race coil springs which substantially improve grip and overall handling trhough improved response. These are very high quality, low weight springs which are up to 30% lighter than other race coil springs.

2. Adjustable Ride Height: this unleashes the potential of your car by adjusting ride height (where applicable) which lowers the vehicle's centre of gravity. RSX owners will also benefit from greater chassis tuning by allowing you to carry out corner weight adjustability to optimise the car's balance - this enables each tyre to carry the correct dynamic loading.

3. Valving: Optimised and proven German specification valving giving a 50% increase over Spax's other Top Adjustable products and as much as 300% over the car's original equipment. Both lateral acceleration ie "turn-in" and roll rate are greatly improved.

Spax Dampers with High Pressure Krypton

Krypton?

Specialist gases are used more and more now in the motor industry. We have seen Xenon headlamps, neon lights, nitrogen filled tyres - now Spax are offering Krypton filled dampers. Spax are the first suspension manufacturer to use gas dampers throughout their range, nitrogen in their VSX range, and Krypton in all their adjustable dampers.

Krypton is a very expensive, inert element which is incredibly stable. Krypton's thermodynamic properties ensure that the quality of low speed ride is as high as possible (low speed comfort is significantly improved) and fade resistance is extremely high (high speed performance is further enhanced). Sounds too goood to be true? Well there is a cost - but not to the customer. Gas pressurising is expensive; nitrogen gas is not cheap and Krypton is more expensive than nitrogen. In spite of this, massive improvements to the Spax production process has allowed them to maintain their competitive and affordable price structure.

More changes to make even better dampers...

The change to Krypton has necessitated some design changes so Spax have taken the opportunity to make various developmental changes to all their adjustable dampers...

  • Imporved damping characteristics - better low speed ride quality and improved high speed performance
  • Better balance between bump and rebound damping - better car control in all conditions
  • More progressive rebound damping - better suited to all road conditions
  • Better matching of dampers - better comering and stopping
  • Better high speed damping stablity - greater comering speed and shorter stopping distances on rough roads
  • Better low speed adjustablity - better comfort and performance control
  • High performance low friction damper shaft seal - gives better ride quality and improved wet weather operation
  • A stop at both ends of the adjustment - you know when you are at maximum adjustment
  • Better 'click' definition - easier to feel the clikcs at low damper settings
  • Double seals on adjuster - better leak protection
  • Softer minimum damper setting - better ride comfort when you want it
  • Quieter damper operation

On a final note regarding Spax technology, it is important to mentioned that Spax make its own dampers in its state of the are TuV certified factory. Every damper is tested on a computer controlled dyno before leaving the production line, all dampers and springs are epoxy power coated to give a finish that is second to none and you have some of the most durable, reliable and best performing suspension components to be found anywhere in the world.
